South Boulder Creek Below Gross Reservoir access and rules.

Use these places as starting points. Open the access link below and check posted signs before you park or enter.

Before you go

Colorado statewide fishing rules and posted land-manager restrictions control. No below-Gross special-water entry was verified in the current Chapter 1 review, so this page does not borrow Boulder Creek's city-specific rules. Recheck the current rule and posted site notices before fishing.

Where to access the river

Gross Reservoir outlet area

Check Denver Water's current recreation and construction updates. Treat the outlet trail as bank-access and observation context only. Body contact and wading are prohibited, and approaches can close intermittently.

Walker Ranch Open Space

Boulder County provides official trail and fishing information. Fish from legal banks because county open-space rules prohibit wading. The approach can be strenuous and public water is not continuous beyond mapped land.

Eldorado Canyon State Park

Official creek access with park-pass and seasonal vehicle-reservation requirements. No public parking is available in the town of Eldorado Springs.

  • Check Denver Water's current construction page on every Gross-area trip through the active project period.
  • Denver Water prohibits body contact, including wading, at Gross Reservoir property. Boulder County also prohibits swimming and wading at Walker Ranch. Plan bank fishing in both sections.
  • Eldorado Canyon requires vehicle reservations on summer weekends and holidays during the posted season. Confirm current dates before arrival.
  • Do not assume the entire area between named public properties is open bank access.

If this water does not fit the day, check another report before you start the drive.

What was checked: This restored report is maintained from official flow, regulation, access, weather, and public-land sources. Planning guidance is separated from live observations and legal rules.

Live measurements and forecasts keep their provider timestamps. Rules, access, and trip guidance use the source-review date shown here. BlueStreamFly planning advice is editorial interpretation, not an agency notice.
